Weburbanist ran a piece on the world's creepiest abandoned amusements parks that I can't seem to get out of my head. I think it's the idea of failed happiness. Looking at mechanisms designed for amusement and laughter now forgotten and rotting alone. No children, no smiles, no animation. Tragic. Yet it's more than just the machines and concession stands that have let would be amusers down but the greater better (faster, stronger) life constuct in which these schemes were to play a role.
Part II. (there wasn't a part I) I actually find some of the shots really provactive and even beautifully alone. Realization in failure as failure is real and we all have. But relief in the way of the abatement of performance happiness. We can't construct it but only temporarily give ourselves something else to think about.
Or maybe it was just a blog on some closed run down wally worlds that's really not the interesting after all, kind of like this one.
